Community Resources
At Mid-Cities, we believe everything we have is a gift from God and that we are called to steward our resources with wisdom and integrity (Romans 11:36; Matthew 6:21). As a charitable organization, we are committed to using the gifts entrusted to us responsibly and for the purposes for which they were given.
Because of this commitment, we are not always able to provide immediate financial assistance when requests come in. Our financial processes require planning, accountability, and prayerful consideration, and we do not keep funds available for same-day needs.
Even so, we deeply desire the good of our city and want to be a source of encouragement and support (Jeremiah 29:7). While we may not be able to meet every financial request directly, we care about our neighbors and want to help in meaningful ways.
To serve our community well, we’ve put together the following list of local resources available to those seeking assistance. We hope these organizations can provide the timely help you need, and we are grateful for the opportunity to walk with our community in love and compassion.
Financial Assistance
Both the Maplewood Public Library and Mission: St. Louis have extensive lists of community resources and financial assistance for various needs.
Housing Assistance
Home Improvement Program. The Home Improvement Program (HIP) is a federally funded program that provides technical advice and financial assistance to qualified homeowners for a variety of home repairs. The program is administered by St. Louis County’s Department of Human Services, Office of Community Development.
Missouri Housing Trust Fund. The Missouri Housing Trust Fund was created by the state Legislature in 1994 to help meet the housing needs of very low income families and individuals. The Missouri Housing Development Commission administers the Trust Fund, which provides funding for a variety of housing needs, such as homeless prevention; rehab or new construction of rental housing, rental assistance; and home repair to eligible organizations providing housing assistance to Missourians.
